We are thrilled to announce that Verve has done it again, winning the OTC Marketing Award for Pharmacy In-Store Support for our ellaOne campaign. This makes it an incredible four years in a row and to cap it off, we also won 2nd place for our Balance Activ campaign.
And the award goes to…
All the elbow grease that went into our entries really did pay off! We were incredibly satisfied to see that out of the 5 entries we presented, all 5 were shortlisted out of a total of just 7 in this one HCP-focused category…
A HUGE well done to the team and our client ellaOne on a fantastic win, and to Balance Activ who received a Highly Commended second place. It is an immense feeling knowing that the 12 members of the OTC’s Super Retail Panel recognised the hard work and creativity that went into creating these campaigns and rewarding us with the win for another year!
Senior Account Manager Alice Mazzanti, part of the ellaOne account team, shares how she felt when the winner was announced.
“It took me a moment to realise what had happened and I was so happy I was left speechless. My colleagues filled the gap in for me as they all cheered and congratulated us while myself, Dom, Stu, and Miriam went on stage with our clients. ellaOne is a great product and a great brand and I’m simply over the moon our campaign won.”
Meet our winners
1st place: ellaOne
The Judges said:
“Based on real attitudes to difficult conversations about emergency contraception, the ellaOne campaign benefitted from well-presented materials with a consumer focus. The increase in sales demonstrate its effectiveness.”
Research shows how many women feel embarrassed when it comes to asking for the morning after pill. That’s why, last year we created a campaign to support pharmacies in making women feel more at ease from the moment they walk inside the pharmacy to when they leave.
We created various in-store materials, including a training guide on how to manage difficult conversations and a checklist card to make the conversation in pharmacy more discreet. You can learn more at whyellaone.co.uk.
2nd place: Balance Activ
The judges said:
“Taking a sensitive approach to an embarrassing and under-diagnosed but prevalent condition, Balance Activ’s campaign was a great initiative, adding value for pharmacy and patients alike.”
It was an incredible feeling to receive highly commended for a campaign that supports women and pharmacy. BV is a frequent condition for women of all ages which is under-recognised. Our objective was to create effective training materials which helped pharmacy staff recognise this condition, consult with patients with discretion and, more importantly, treat effectively without antibiotics.
A well done to our PAGB partners
Our shining new trophy wasn’t the only reason to smile that evening!
When the final award of the evening was announced, the whole team was thrilled to celebrate with PAGB Chief Executive John Smith as he walked on stage to collect the award for his Outstanding Contribution to the OTC Industry. Being Associate Members of the PAGB, we work closely with John and his team who continue to support and engage with us. This is what John had to say on his win…
“It is a privilege to be the Chief Executive of the PAGB, especially as we celebrated our centenary last year. This is a challenging but rewarding industry to be part of, full of positive, enthusiastic people working on amazing brands.”
John’s words were sincerely applauded by all the 400 industry delegates in the room – a truly well-deserved win.
Why do the OTC Marketing Awards matter?
The OTC Marketing Awards is an annual event where the most outstanding contributions to the British OTC industry are celebrated for their achievements.
Covering 19 categories including OTC Company of the Year, the most creative campaigns, brand revitalisations and product innovations are recognised by the industry. We were thrilled to be a part of it as finalists in the Best OTC Pharmacy In-Store Support category.
Like previous years, we were one of the event sponsors, with the privilege of sponsoring the bar, showcasing Verve across the room pillars and bar furniture.
This year marked the 25th anniversary of the prestigious awards, held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel. A black-tie made all of us more than happy to swap our day-to-day agency clothes with some fancy dresses, suits and plenty of Verve sparkle! And of course, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to take some cheeky pictures!
Our MD, Dom, also had the privilege of presenting the award for the most creative OTC campaign which was highly exciting for the whole team to experience! We all thoroughly enjoyed celebrating with the winners on their success.
“ A really enjoyable evening. Winning the best Pharmacy Support Campaign award for the fourth year is an amazing achievement and to have (nearly) all the team together to celebrate made it even more special. No pressure on next year then…” – Dominic Murdoch
That’s a wrap!
Even when the ceremony was over, our excitement levels definitely didn’t dip! Our Creative Director Stu had a great idea to be prepared for our possible win and printed some OTC Marketing Awards 2020 Winner stickers. Both he and Alice had the time of their lives adding to all our bar branding. See below for the evidence!
Overall, it was a blissful feeling seeing our hard work recognised and rewarded, and we are all extremely proud to be a part of such a talented and motivated team of professionals who continue to show their influence in the OTC marketing industry.
