Congratulations to Jules Herbert for winning our digital Easter bake-off with her Spring Lamb Cupcakes.
In normal times, we would have celebrated Easter with one of our famous Verve bake-off competitions. The lockdown may have stopped us from sampling each other’s cakes, but it didn’t stop us from being a team and having some competitive fun together!
The rules were very simple. Bake whatever you wanted to (and have ingredients for) and following an Easter theme wasn’t essential but would be looked on favourably by the judges. Entries would be anonymous, judged on their presentation and had to be genuinely edible (no fake-bakes allowed). Help from partners and kids was allowed, but they couldn’t be blamed if you didn’t win! Entrants were also encouraged to send in some extra pics of the baking process.
The vast majority of our Soho team accepted the challenge and we had an amazing, wide-ranging collection of entries from croissants to cookies to cakes.
Once we had all the entries, it was time to find our winner. Images of all the mighty bakes, including some of the ‘baking in progress’ pics, were uploaded to an online poll where we all got to rate each entry and select a favourite. The poll was also sent out to our extended family and some of our clients so they could also join in on some Easter fun.
A big thank you to everyone who got involved and helped us select the best bake. Jules did manage to score a very high percentage of votes and surely the incredibly cute images, that showed her willing helpers, added something extra special to her already impressive submission.
Not only did Jules, and her little troop of assistants, get a certificate to mark their victory, but she also gets to claim some significant team bragging rights and of course the admiration of us all. On finding out they’d won, Jules has this to say:
