SCIENCE HUMANISED: PART 1 – DR. CLARKE & DR. QASIM INTERVIEW, Medical Workforce Discussion.

At Verve, we believe that understanding healthcare professionals (HCPs) is key to creating meaningful healthcare communications. The latest episode in our Science, Humanised series, sees our MD, Dom Murdoch, speaking with Dr. Rachel Clarke and Dr Asif Qasim on the challenges HCPs face including workforce shortages. These two prominent voices in healthcare discuss the often-overlooked issues in palliative care, the importance of empathy in communication, and the need for better training and support for HCPs. Both bring invaluable insights from the NHS front line and beyond.

Dr. Rachel Clarke is British writer and physician specialising in palliative care, working in a large NHS hospital. She is the author of three Sunday Times Best Selling books, including ‘Breath Taking’ an account of working inside the NHS during the UK’s first wave of Covid-19. Formerly a Current Affairs journalist, Dr Clarke has been described as “shining a light into the world of dying” and a “true advocate of healthcare reform“.

Dr. Asif Qasim, is a leading interventional cardiologist and healthcare pioneer. He provides direct patient care in general and interventional cardiology, with a focus on complex percutaneous procedures, and leading advancements in clinical services. He is also founder of Medshr– a network for Medical professionals with over 2,000,000 members – receiving a King’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation in 2024.

Their insights into the challenges HCPs face – from delivering care and navigating the complexities of medical education to tackling systemic issues – helps us stay in tune with what truly matters to healthcare professionals. By listening to those who experience these challenges first hand, we can create strategies that genuinely resonate and empower our pharma clients to engage with, and support, HCPs more effectively.

Don’t miss this inspiring conversation with Dr. Rachel Clarke and Dr Asif Qasim.
