As someone who wears two important hats within our agency, Jules shares valuable insights into our learning and development strategy and the practical ways we implement it (even amid busy projects deadlines!)
“I loved chatting with Dom about Verve’s learning and development strategy this week. It made me reflect on how far we’ve come—from the shoebox-sized office in Covent Garden to our super cool offices in Soho and it’s amazing to see the growth—for the company and the team!
I wear two hats: Senior Account Director (client strategy stuff) and Learning & Development Lead for the agency. I love the balance, even if it’s a bit of a juggle!
We follow a little Yoda wisdom: “In a dark place, we find ourselves, but a little knowledge lights our way.” (Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith).
We know that learning works best in small, regular doses. That’s why our strategy focuses on continuous learning that’s easy to digest and put into practice.
We’ve built a framework around five key skills pillars that drive everything we do. We debated them extensively to make sure they align with our values and job needs. Then, we created personal development plans, skill-building opportunities, and simple ways to track progress—without being all Big Brother about it. It’s about helping people see how they’re growing and what to focus on next.
How does this happen? We’ve got a team of advocates and managers championing the strategy. You’re never alone. Plus, we share knowledge, mentor each other, and keep conversations open.
What’s next? In this fast-changing world, creating an adaptive learning culture is more important than ever. That’s our DNA, it runs through everything we do. It’s what makes Verve, well, Verve!”
