THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE SCIENCE: UCHE NWAOBASI.

In this episode, of “Science Humanised” – The People Behind the Science, our MD Dom sits down with Uche, who takes us on her fascinating journey from Pharmacist to award-winning Account Manager.

Want to know how someone goes from behind the pharmacy counter to leading groundbreaking healthcare campaigns? (And yes, you’ll spot that shiny OTC Awards she bagged for Best OTC Pharmacy Training & Learning for See My Pain).

Watch the video to below to discover Uche’s unique insights on her transition from a qualified Boots Pharmacist to agency life, including how her healthcare background shapes her current role.

A Career Switch That Sparked Joy

“I was a Pharmacist for a little while, mostly doing relief work with Boots… Then after that, I kind of felt that pharmacy wasn’t really for me.” And aren’t we glad she made that switch!

After some digital stalking (her words, not ours!) of our website and falling head over heels for the variety of work we do, she joined our team over a year ago. As she puts it, she “fell in love instantly” with healthcare communications, and we must say, the feeling is mutual!

Achievements That Make Her (and Us!) Proud

  • Working on the “See My Pain” campaign, tackling the gender pain gap
  • Bagged her first OTC award (and hasn’t let go of it since – we’ve got photographic evidence!)
  • Mastered the art of KOL filming
  • Earned her first ‘Vervie’ at the Christmas party (what it was for remains a mystery… what happens at the Christmas party, stays at the Christmas party!)

Life Outside Work

When she’s not crushing it at work, you’ll find her with a crochet hook in hand. Fun fact: She’s not just any crocheter – her work has recently been displayed at the Saatchi Gallery! Talk about talent!

And if that wasn’t impressive enough, she’s currently on a mission to read 65 books this year. She’s already 13 books down, and we’re taking bets on whether she’ll make it (our money’s on yes!).

The Verve Vibe

“I love the vibe at Verve… We have such a good team here and I think we have a nice energy that we all feel a kind of camaraderie.”

From social committees to learning and development programmes, she’s fully embraced the Verve spirit – even creating a crocheted Verve logo that proudly adorns our office wall!

Who we are

Science has the power to change the world – but only if people connect with it. Facts alone aren’t enough; they need context, emotion, and meaning to truly make an impact. At Verve, a health communications agency, we believe that science should be more than just understood, it should inspire action. That’s why we developed Science, humanised, an approach that transforms complex data into communication that resonates. We don’t just translate scientific information; we create stories that captivate, inspire, and empower. Because when science is told with clarity and emotion, it drives real change.

In a fast-moving world, where breakthroughs happen every day, how we communicate science matters. It’s not just about accuracy…it’s about connection. We bridge the gap between facts and feelings, between research and real life. Through strategic storytelling, we ensure that every scientific insight is accessible, relevant, and impactful.

Because science doesn’t exist in isolation. It’s a conversation – one that requires curiosity, creativity, and, most importantly, a human touch.

Let’s make science more than knowledge, let’s make it meaningful. Let’s start the conversation.
